This Antioxidant Can Lower Your Hemoglobin A1C and SMASH Insulin Resistance

Research has revealed new and exciting information for people with diabetes and pre-diabetes.

Alpha Lipoic Acid (ALA), a powerful antioxidant, has the ability to smash insulin resistance, lower your Hemoglobin A1c, lower your glucose levels and even decrease symptoms from peripheral neuropathy.

Antioxidants, like Alpha Lipoic Acid (ALA) attack "free radicals," waste products created when the body turns food into energy. Free radicals cause harmful chemical reactions that can damage cells, organs and tissues and make it harder for the body to fight off infections and cancer.

ALA is unique from other antioxidants because it is both fat and water soluble. This means it can work throughout the body, whereas, water soluble vitamins like vitamin C are only water soluble and vitamin E is only fat soluble limiting their ability for the cells they can act on.

Throughout Europe, ALA has been used for decades on diabetic patients to reduce elevated levels of glucose in their blood and to increase their insulin sensitivity. Increased insulin sensitivity allows glucose to easily pass into the cells for energy.

Studies reveal for ALA to be effective in smashing insulin resistance, you should take a dose of 600 mg, daily.

Further studies reveal that ALA is extremely effective in providing relief from the pain, burning, tingling and numbness caused by diabetic neuropathy and peripheral neuropathy.
ALA also aids in decreasing inflammation, beating cancer or heart disease and wards off cognitive (brain) decline.

Alpha lipoic acid also acts a synergist (enhancer) to B vitamins. ALA helps the absorption of B vitamins in the body.

Alpha Lipoic acid is found in many food sources, such as:

  • Broccoli
  • Brussell sprouts
  • Spinach
  • Beets
  • Yams
  • Tomatoes
  • Organ meat
  • Flax Seed
  • Chia seed
  • Walnuts

The reality is even if your diet is rich in these foods, it’s very difficult to consume the amounts needed to achieve a therapeutic dose of ALA.

3 Benefits of Alpha Lipoic Acid

1. Fights Diabetes

600 mg of ALA daily improves insulin sensitivity and aids with reducing glucose levels It is effective for diabetics and research has shown that it is vitally effective in people with pre-diabetes. It can prevent a pre-diabetic from developing full blown diabetes.

2. Protects Nerves from damage

ALA offers protection for nerve cells to prevent damage resulting in peripheral neuropathy, and kidney disease resulting from kidney nerve damage. ALA has been used successfully to control symptoms from:

  • Peripheral neuropathy
  • Macular degeneration
  • Glaucoma

3. ALA Prevents Memory Loss and Cognitive Decline

Since ALA is both fat and water soluble, it easily crosses the blood-brain-barrier to make it into the brain where it protects the delicate neurons (nerve cells) of the brain from damage. It also used to prevent against strokes and other brain problems resulting in dementia.

Recent studies have shown that ALA can help reverse the damage in aging brain cells, and improve memory.

4. Encourages Normal Thyroid Hormone Levels

A 2016 study found that Alpha Lipoic Acid can promote normal thyroid hormone function when taken with quercetin and resveratrol.

5. Promotes Normal Cardiovascular Function

R-Alpha Lipoic Acid promotes normal cardiovascular circulation and can help repair damaged linings of arterial walls.

Insights: How To Get Adequate ALA In Your Body

Our body’s don't produce enough ALA, and because our Western culture promotes consuming processed foods, not to mention exposure to environmental toxins, it’s vitally important to take a nutritional supplement that contains ALA in a therapeutic dosage. Supplemental servings of ALA typically range from 50 to 600 mg, which is up to 1000 times more than naturally occurs in food. Most supplements contain a 50-50 combination of the mirror image isomers, S-Alpha Lipoic Acid and R-Alpa Lipoic Acid. Research has shown that S-ALA is not nearly as effective in the body as R-ALA. The highest quality supplements only contain pure R-ALA.

When you read an ingredient label, if the alpha lipoic acid is listed without any letter in front of it, you can assume it is S-ALA. Most companies will use the ‘S’ version of alpha lipoic acid because it’s much cheaper. Companies who spend the extra money to use the far superior quality of ALA (R-Alpha Lipoic Acid) will most definitely list that on their ingredient panel. They want you to be assured that you’re getting the best quality of Alpha Lipoic Acid.

Studies show that the body absorbs ALA best on an empty stomach. However, alpha lipoic acid can cause stomach upset in people with digestive disorders (even if they’re unaware that they have a digestive disorder). In fact, this is one of the easiest ways to determine if you do have an underlying digestive disorder. Take R-ALA on an empty stomach. If you experience any nausea or queasiness, this is an indicator that you have underlying GI issues.

We only use the highest quality of R-Alpha Lipoic Acid in our formulation-NUPHORIA cm® Gold.  When you take 2 capsules in the morning and 2 capsules in the afternoon, you receive therapeutic dosages of R-ALA associated with lowering blood sugar (glucose) levels and hemoglobin A1c.  We’ve found our formulation to be so effective, that many of our diabetic patients have been able to decrease their insulin intake.  Our pre-diabetes patients have also reported a return back to normal fasting glucose (blood sugar) levels ( 65-99 mg/dL).

If you take insulin, be sure to monitor your glucose levels while taking Alpha Lipoic Acid. R-ALA is very effective with lowering glucose levels. Although this is a great thing for people with hyperglycemia (elevated blood sugar), it can cause glucose to drop dangerously low while on insulin. The good news is that you may be able to reduce your dosage of insulin.

Always consult with your physician before making any changes to your medications.
